The Legal Shared Service is a newly created partnering arrangement between St Albans City & District Council and Watford Borough Council. The new trainee solicitor programme is part of the Legal Shared Service’s integrated approach to recruitment and development of talent through greater opportunities for career progression and specialism. This role will provide a high level of legal support and assist in all legal work undertaken by the Legal Shared Services Team on behalf of both Councils. The Trainee Solicitor will assist with casework in a variety of areas of law including housing law, planning law, property law, procurement and contract law, licensing & regulatory law, information law. This includes contentious and non-contentious work. The Trainee Solicitor will also be responsible for their own caseload.
The ideal candidate should hold an LLB or equivalent qualification and have completed the Legal Practice Course. Experience working as a paralegal would be desirable.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a high level of organisation skills to manage a variety workload and attention to detail in conducting work and drafting documents. Team working and results focused with excellent level of IT literacy using MS Office, Nuance Advanced, Westlaw, IKEN or similar specialist legal case management software.
The role is based in our refurbished offices in St Albans city centre, but some travel to Watford is also required.
