Trainee Quantity Surveyor - Coatbridge
Your tasks:
- Learning about and assisting the commercial and contract management department, to achieve financial performance targets and goals by optimising margin and protecting the company from commercial risk.
- Supporting the project team to deliver contracts.
- Develop Quantity Surveying, Commercial and Contract Management skills.
- Undertake a discipline rotation within appropriate departments in order to gain the skills and competencies to complete the requirements.
- Attend training provider courses full time or day release as requested. Leading to completion of a level 6 Apprentice Standard.
- Operate at an appropriate level carrying out designated tasks within the team assigned.
- Support with the administration of Sub-contractor accounts from project start up through to final account, including the administration of sub-contract payments and issuing payment notices.
- Commercial & Contract Guidance - Work with the commercial team to understand the key principles of construction contracts and their application.
- Record Keeping – Assist in establishing contemporaneous records in compliance with projects systems which identify progress, delays and controlled change management. Contributing to event registers and entitlement documentation.
- Financial Targets & Budgets - Provide support which aligns with the commercial management strategy, participating in the production of Project Reviews and Work Package Reviews.
- Support, Relationships & Procedures - Establish good relationships within Project Teams, the Supply Chain (including sub-contractors), and the Client.
- Training & Development - Pursue the training and professional development goals of the commercial apprenticeship scheme.
Your profile:
- You must meet the entry requirements to be enrolled on the BSc (Hons)
Quantity Surveyor Degree course at Glasgow Caledonia University. - The right attitude and adherence towards safety is highly important.
- Ability to manage own time, prioritise & meet deadlines.
- Ability to undertake own research & independent learning.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and able to demonstrate their commitment to achieving the apprenticeship award.
- Computer literate.
- Self-motivated with the ability to plan and manage time.
- The ability to stay calm and meet deadlines.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and support others, as required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
