Library Assistant
Dorchester Library and Learning Centre
Part Time, £8,876 - £9,038 per annum
15.50 hours per week
Fixed Term until 31st March 2024
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a dynamic and high performing team based at Dorchester Library, with a requirement to work at nearby libraries as necessary
Libraries are important community resources providing access to books and digital resources for information and pleasure, enabling people to enjoy cultural events, acquire lifelong learning skills, improve their health and wellbeing and combat social isolation.
The library has a continually evolving role in meeting the needs of the community. Strong customer focus, people skills, digital literacy and adaptability are essential, as is the ability to promote the library and its resources, which will include leading a Rhyme Time or under 5’s session; facilitating children’s reading groups; workshops for teenagers; Shared Reading and Reminiscence sessions for adults; visits to schools and community groups
About you
You should be confident supporting the Library Manager and team in the running of the library, and able to enthuse about reading and help customers access information, including through signposting and referral. You will also be a confident user of digital resources including apps and demonstrate an ability to solve digital queries
