Role Purpose:
Our construction company focuses on several industry sectors, namely residential, education, health, care and commercial. Schemes are predominately of a Design & Build arrangement with the occasional traditional project awarded.
A Trainee Quantity Surveyor will be involved with operational delivery of projects.
From time to time, liaison and support for our pre-construction team may also be required. In addition, a dedicated period of the training programme will be allocated within our pre-construction team, plus other departments as workload dictates.
Consulting with colleagues, professional team members and scheme associated stakeholders to consider and develop all aspects of commercial and operational delivery, including design development/optimization, plus best value options for the business.
Be aware of health and safety risk/matters at all times
Monitor and maintain records to support all schemes through our EDMS (Deltek-PIM Workspace) including, specialist contractors, consultants, utility bodies plus associated stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Support measurement of bills of quantities for submission to supply chain, obtain comprehensive and compliant quotations. Analyse and support recommendation of specialist contractors for appointment.
Support production of procurement schedules for supply chain and materials.
Support preparation and issue of specialist contractor orders in accord with procurement and programme requirements/schedules, as directed.
Support monitoring, measurement, and valuations on a regular basis as works proceed on site by specialist contractors, plus ensure payments are processed in a timely manner.
Support measurement of bills of quantities for ‘price work’ to be undertaken by our direct workforce.
As directed support and monitor alterations to the design and or construction work, support adjustment of forecast projections including pricing of variations.
Support production of monthly external valuations.
As directed support preparation and production of accurate cost value reconciliation (CVR) reports on a monthly basis.
Support, preparation and production of reports as requested in support of project deliverables.
Support buying team with procurement of materials in accordance with programme and budgetary requirements as directed.
Consult with colleagues to support appointment of consultant team members as directed.
Attend internal and design team meetings/workshops as directed.
Ensure a professional and consistent approach is adopted in relation to all internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Salary: £18,000.00-£21,000.00 per year
