We have an opportunity available for a Trainee Powder Coat Sprayer & Finishing Operative to join our team on a full time, permanent basis. This role is based role at our Uniform Engineering Site in Highbridge, Somerset.
Uniform employs over 20 people and are part of the SDI Group who specialise in the scientific industry.
Responsibilities of the Trainee Powder Coat Sprayer & Finishing Operative will include:
- Preparing finished products for painting, ensuring all surfaces to be painted are free from defects and cleaned prior to painting
- Spray application of hydrostatic powder coatings to a variety of metal surfaces- steel, aluminium, etc. to required quality standards
- Performing coating repairs using hand tools and relevant touch-up paint application techniques and procedures
- Following adequate procedures for ‘masking off’ and protecting non-painted surfaces/fittings, using tape, paper or other materials
- Assembly of fabricated parts and materials into finished products in line with Customer requirements
- Inspecting finished painting work against quality standards and expectations
- Moving, hanging and general handling of all products
- Maintaining good housekeeping practices in accordance with UEL requirements

- Able to work in a fast paced, low volume, high quality fabrication factory.
- Willing to work flexibly, as dictated by the workflow, with a positive approach to each task.
- Self-disciplined, able to work unsupervised and in a team environment, and take responsibility for accuracy & quality of own work
- Ability to make effective decisions whilst under pressure, and work to tight deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and high personal standards
- Personable, effective communicator, able to liaise with staff at all levels
- Good understanding of health and safety responsibilities
- Able to follow processes and quality-controlled standards of work
- Willing to undertake other adhoc duties, tasks and general Company activities deemed necessary from time to time as we may reasonably expect or require
