We are on the lookout for highly motivated, organised, and trustworthy individuals to join the BHSF team as Trainee Occupational Health Advisors. The position includes full funding for a formal qualification in OH with our 4-year program building your skill from registered Nurse to a skilled/ competent OH practitioner. BHSF OH work with a wide range of industries and our trainees receive formal and in-house training with ongoing support from line managers and dedicated mentors. Key Responsibilities
To travel throughout the United Kingdom, with occasional overnight stays, in the performance of your duties and work at the premises of BHSF OH customers as and when required- To work occasional anti-social hours (usually between 18:00 - 24:00 but occasionally to 03:00 hours on weekdays and occasional Saturdays).
- Provision of specialist nursing skills helping maintain the high standard of service we aim to provide.
- Provision of management skills contributing to efficiency and effectiveness of the service
- Excellent communication skills promoting good liaison at all times with both management and employees.
- To keep abreast of changing legislation, clinical practice and managerial styles that may influence the role of the Trainee Occupational Health Adviser
- Under the guidance of your line manager to be responsible for own professional development
- Ensure that clinical equipment is maintained and calibrated on a planned basis.
- Participate in clinical audits and / or research projects as appropriate • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- To comply with your obligations under the Company’s data protection, information security and other relevant policies, when handling personal data or special categories of sensitive data
- To maintain courtesy, professionalism and high standards of presentation in all communications with customers and potential customers
- To perform all tasks and duties when required, providing flexibility and cover in a team working environment.
Key clinical tasks:
To be ultimately (at 12 months employment) responsible for carrying out a defined (by Manager) range of specialist nurse activities and including the management of:- Occupational Health ill health/ management referrals
- Immunisation Programmes
- Health Screening and Surveillance
- Workplace Assessments including Display Screen Equipment
- Health Promotion Programmes
- Management of ad hoc Occupational Health issues e.g., percutaneous, and mucocutaneous injuries
- Conducting face-to-face and/or telephone consultations to adhere to BHSF, the client and the NMC guidelines and codes of conduct.
- Good and accurate record keeping and adhering to the BHSF and NMC confidentiality policy and procedure.
Key managerial tasks:
- To organise and control own workload as required.
- To attend relevant meetings providing Occupational Health input as required
- To feedback general and specific information regarding any client contract to the Senior Management team as appropriate
- To produce any relevant reports regarding the client contract generally and/or Occupational Health issue
- To maintain Courtesy, professionalism, and high standards of presentation in all communications with customers and potential customers
- To perform all tasks and duties when required providing flexibility and covering a team working environment.
- All employees are responsible for ensuring the protection of personal data, as such you are required to actively engage with all requests relating to data protection and proactively ensure compliance with GDPR and the DPA when handling any personal, special category or criminal conviction data. You must report data incidents in-line with Company Policy. You must understand and comply with obligations under the Company’s data protection, information security, GDPR, DPA and FCA regulations and other relevant policies.
- Operates within defined risk appetite levels, and within the context of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), Risk Strategy, and all associated policies.
- Ensure compliance with the company health and safety rules and requirements, ensuring own safety and that of colleagues at all times; raising risks identified immediately and following all health and safety instructions.
- At all times, ensure that customers are put first in everything we do, following all policies and procedures, especially those relating to The Consumer Duty
