Trainee Nurse Associate - Bristol & Weston

Trainee Nurse Associate - Bristol & Weston Bristol, England

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust
Full Time Bristol, England 21730 - 23177 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Are you an experienced Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) looking to progress in your nursing career?

If this applies to you, then UHBW are looking to recruit for our next adult intake of Trainee Nurse Associates (TNA)! This will be for the October 2023 intake.

If you are passionate about learning, developing your clinical nursing skills and the underpinning knowledge to deliver excellent patient care then you could be one of our next Nursing Associates (NA). The role of NA is to essentially bridge the gap between the roles of the health care support worker and the registered nurses. The course itself is full time hours over a fixed 2-year term as a band 3 TNA.

To apply for this course, you must hold both English Language and Mathematics qualifications equivalent to functional skills Level 2 and have a Level 3 qualification.

Please note, you must be eligible to government funding to apply for this role.

This is a developmental role. As a TNA you will work towards progression into the post of NA through the successful completion of the TNA programme which leads to the attainment of a Level 5 Foundation degree.

Being a Level 5 course, it is academically demanding, and you will be expected to attend University one day a week during term time. During the course you must complete at least 2,300 programme hours which will be split over theory and practical placements. As a TNA you will be allocated a base area where you will spend 60% of time on, but you will also spend 20% of the time allocated to placements in a variety of clinical area including such areas as paediatrics, mental health, surgery, medicine, learning disability and the community (the remaining twenty percent will be focusing on the academic component). The demand of this course means you must be flexible and be able to work the shift patterns in these various clinical areas.

In return you will be supported by a Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisors as well as support from a Practice Tutor and a Learning Education Facilitator dedicated to TNA support to give both professional support, guidance and encouragement.

On successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to apply for your Nursing and Midwifery Council registration number known as your ‘PIN’, and subsequent entry onto the NMC register as a band 4 NA. Ideally you be offered a NA role within your base area. There is also after a period of consolidation working as an NA the possibility to progress to training to become a Registered Nurse.
