We’re looking for a Trainee Metering Technician to join our Utilities, South-West Water team. Within this role, we will provide you with all the training and tools to help you launch your new career.
Kier Utilities brings the built environment to life, keeping people and businesses connected. In this role, you will be working on our South-West Water contract, where we work on repairs and maintenance services to provide reliable, efficient, and high-quality drinking water and wastewater services.
In the role of Metering Technician, you will work closely with another member of the team, going out to local areas working on schemes such as district metering and large and complex mains repairs.
Location: Based in North Devon
Contract: Permanent
Trainee Salary: £25,500 per annum
Responsibilities
As a Metering Technician for the South-West Water team your day-to-day will include:
- Use of a tablet and contract specific software for accessing updating and recording all old and new meter details.
- Physical exchange, unscrewing of old meters and replacement (screw-in) of new meters (High volume, street by street exchanges with targeted outputs week by week)
- Completion of comprehensive photo records, meter serial numbers and meter readings.
- Proactive customer engagement, liaison, and feedback.
- Survey of meters requiring further works, plumbing, excavation or dig out to enable exchange.
We will provide you with EUSR Water Hygiene, Blue Card and Manual Handling Training certifications, in order to successfully carry out the role. We will provide additional training and development to help you progress within your career at Kier.
Who are we looking for?
No experience required, although advantageous, as we will provide you with full training.
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Tech savvy – able to pick up new IT systems
