Job description
As a Trainee Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner, you will be expected to work under supervision as part of a dynamic mental health team delivering psychologically informed interventions and supporting adults to receive the right care.
During the one-year graduate certificate or postgraduate certificate training, you will, under supervision, develop knowledge and practice skills to employ wellbeing-focussed psychologically informed interventions for serious mental health problems for adults individually and in groups, as well as support their families and carers, in line with the education providers expectations.
These roles will contribute to ensuring adult and older adults with severe mental health problems have greater access to psychologically informed interventions. As well as bridging the gap between primary and secondary care. We currently have four posts available - tow working with adults of working age based in Walsall and two posts working with Older Adults in Walsall and one in Wolverhampton.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner. This is an exciting brand-new role created by Health Education England and NHS England and Improvement to support the transformation of adult and older adult community mental health services. your training will be fully funded by the NHS, and you will be eligible for a full-time qualified position if you pass the course. In return, we ask that you commit to staying with us for at least two years after you qualify.
Working for our organisation
The role is part of a new place-based mental health workforce that is integrated and co-located within the Black Country Integrated Care System (ICS). This team will build integrated ways of working and has been developed to provide a collaborative approach to delivering local services and joined up support for the people locally. This includes involvement from health, social care, local authority, third sector and voluntary and community organisations.

Essential / Desirable
Essential criteria
- 2.2 degree or level 5 certificate of entry to the graduate certificate route
- Experience of working with public and or individuals with mental health problems
- Evidence of using supervision
Desirable criteria
- MDT Working
- Lived experience of mental health issues/difficulties
- Working with psychological models to manage distress of individuals with mental health problems
