Trainee IT Security Analyst

We have an exciting, newly created opportunity for a Trainee IT Security Analyst to join our growing, forward thinking team to provide specialist technical support and security knowledge for the Group.

About the role
This is a varied role that will play a key part in helping the wider team deliver, maintain and support a high class IT and infrastructure service. You will join a team of IT specialists, supporting a large number of our users across our Ports in Scotland and Tilbury, as well as being a key advisor on Cyber Security and supporting the delivery of the IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Provide day to day support to the IT operational support environment which will include all areas of IT related infrastructure including helpdesk, network servers, communication and office automation.
To project manage medium scale projects throughout the complete project implementation cycle to ensure successful implementations in line with the overall IT objectives.
Support the creation of business continuity/disaster recovery plans, to include conducting disaster recovery tests, publishing test results, business continuity exercises and making the changes necessary to address deficiencies.
Ensure the Ports’ IT systems can be accessed at all times, through proactive monitoring and upgrading of the systems.
To assist IT Management and colleagues with the implementation of large scale projects to ensure that implementations are completed successfully and within set timescales and budget.
To advise on any risk or potential risk either technical or business related in the use, deployment, design etc of the company’s IT systems.
Additional ad-hoc IT support and project work as required by the business.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an individual who has a strong competence and passion for IT / Cyber Security, and who is both comfortable working under direction of Management / colleagues, as well as autonomously when required. Exceptional communication skills are key within this role as you will be liaising with multiple stakeholders and users across the group. Additionally we are looking for someone with:
A degree or qualification in an IT related discipline
Certifications in any of the following would be desirable: MCP / MCSA / MCSE / Prince2 Foundation, ITIL Foundation or CCNA / CCNP
Good knowledge of operations support, configuration management, firewall policies and/or IT security management
Strong communication skills
Ability to work well and make key decisions under pressure
