Position Overview:
Due to continued growth within our HR Department, Finning UK&I are looking to add a Trainee HR Generalist to their dynamic team to enhance the employee experience through effective administration and support to our leaders and employees on a wide range of employment areas including contracts, leaver process, life events and benefits.You will be the point of contact for employees who have queries in UK and ROI, collaborate across the HR/L&D teams and be responsible for the relevant HR pages on the company intranet site (Traction).
Job Description:
Major Job Functions:
- Responsible for supporting employees and leaders on terminations. Provide advice and support through the whole leaver process including confirming holiday entitlement, how to terminate employment, producing leaver letters and handling general queries. Review reasons for termination in Workday to ensure data quality and encourage participation of exit pulse surveys. Complete external references for ex-employees. Ensure data quality in Workday and content on HR Traction site is relevant and easy to access and understand.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to employees and leaders on life events including, illness, becoming a parent/carer, bereavement and career breaks. Tasks include uploading sick notes into Workday, advice on various company, statutory and benefit entitlements and generating letters to support processes. Ensure data quality in Workday and content on HR Traction site is relevant and easy to access and understand.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to employees and leaders on rewards at Finning including: Time off (including volunteering) and Benefits. Tasks include advice on how to request to buy additional annual leave, view holiday entitlement in Workday, support employees with how to return from a leave of absence, support with Paycare policy numbers and Computershare access. Ensure data quality in Workday and content on HR Traction site is relevant and easy to access and understand.
- Provide a quick and efficient response to employee queries or signposting them to other team members. Actively management of HR inbox
- Support the HR Advice team with contractual changes including changes to working arrangements and fixed term contracts. Produce relevant letters. Utilise both Workday and other IT systems to access contracts of employment.
- Point of contact for general enquiries including managing the HR inbox. Work across the teams to ensure a timely response to queries or signposting to other teams. Support with purchase requisitions and invoicing. HR Tier 1 responsibility in Workday.
This is an excellent opportunity for somebody wanting to further their experience within the HR sector. Being involved in the daily functions of all aspects of the Business and liaising with internal stakeholders to provide front level support.

Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of a HR function, ideally handling sensitive data.
- Basic knowledge of employer pension schemes including auto enrolment
- Knowledge of Workday system beneficial
Accountability:
- Providing a good leaver experience for people who leave Finning, circa 180 leavers a year.
- Providing support throughout the full employee life cycle, including assisting employees access company benefits
- Accuracy of documentation submitted to support HR advice team.
- Timely response to queries
- Data quality in Workday
- Submitting invoices on time
This is a Hybrid role consisting of 3-4 days per week office working and 1 day per week home working.
