Job description
This role will centre around the installation of home automation and audio-visual equipment, usually in high end domestic environments, with a particular focus on projector based home cinema projects, often transforming regular looking rooms into very impressive home cinemas. There will also be lots of time spent in a small office, creating sales proposals and carrying out administrative tasks, logistics answering the phone, as well as helping with technical planning, creating CAD drawings and sales related activities. The successful candidate will therefore need to demonstrate a huge interest in audiovisual technology coupled with a positive can do attitude. In particular they will need to have an aptitude for practical work and a willingness to take on the wide range of tasks, in keeping with the needs of a growing small business. They will need to be totally reliable, trustworthy and flexible. Although this is advertised as a trainee position we would consider applicants with more experience and there may be some scope to adjust the salary accordingly. Our hope is that the successful candidate will very quickly become key to the success of our small business. This role will be extremely diverse, as is the nature of running a small business.
Our work often includes complete transformation of rooms, requiring basic carpentry , electrical work, electronics, computer networking, programming of smart home control systems, etc. so it is very diverse. The successful candidate will not initially need to be an expert in all of these areas, but being able to demonstrate aptitude or experience or major hobby in some of them would be beneficial.
The candidate will need to be highly presentable, well spoken and capable of always making a good impression upon our clients.
The candidate should have a good range of GCSEs including English and either A levels or other qualifications such as Btec certificate or diploma in relevant technical or practical subjects such as electronics, or computer / IT related subjects or electrical installation.
We are not looking for just another person who will work for us for a year or two. Although this is initially a trainee position, and it is not necessary to have prior employment in an AV engineering role, the person will be key to our business , so this needs to be a long term ideal fit and we will not be interviewing anyone unless they absolutely stand out from the crowd in terms of passion for this niche. so In order to be seriously considered candidates should include a detailed description or covering letter describing specifically why they are interested in this particular job and why they feel that their experience or interests make them the perfect candidate. This should include descriptions of the candidate's prior achievements probably in their private life or major hobbies very strongly related to audio, video, electronics, computers , carpentry, electrical and other practical fields applicable to this role. For example kitted out my car with screens and LED lighting , or built an AV system for my parent's lounge with surround sound. etc etc.
Full UK driving licence required.
The candidate will be sent on some formal training in due course.
On the job training provided.
