TRAINEE - £16,787 PA (75% TOP OF BAND 2 SALARY)
BAND 2 – £22,383 PA
Brief Description of the Role:
The Pre Assessment Unit is a busy and fast paced environment. We assess patients from a variety of specialities including Gynaecology, Urology, Breast, Plastic Surgery, Colorectal, Upper GI, Orthopaedics & Head and neck
We are looking for motivated and dynamic healthcare assistants to join our team who would like to gain valuable skills and experience to support patient assessment and work alongside the Nurses who carry out pre assessments. You will be required to carry out tasks such as recording of observations and ECG, venepuncture, urinalysis and obtaining any swabs or samples that may be required. Skills such as venepuncture and ECG recording are desirable but not essential as full training will be given. The successful applicant will work as part of a team and be responsible for the provision of a high quality service to the patients who attend our service
You should be able to demonstrate excellent caring and people skills and have the ability to work on your own initiative with support from the team. You must also demonstrate a good verbal and written command of English, along with excellent communication/ interpersonal skills. Computer skills are essential.
Minimum NVQ Level 2 in health/health and social care, QCF Diploma in health, *GNVQ, *BTEC in health or health and social care (*required to complete care certificate if not already achieved) However, applications may be considered for those wishing to study towards this qualification as a Trainee Healthcare Assistant**.
**Trainee Healthcare Assistants; Any candidate appointed without Level 2 or 3 Apprenticeship, NVQ or QCF in Health & Social Care/ Clinical Healthcare and Support Work will be appointed on a training contract and paid on 75% of the top of Band 2, in accordance with Annex U of the Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions of Employment. There will be an expectation to complete the required training within a 12-18 month period. Part of this training will involve the attainment of the*** Care Certificate, unless the candidate has evidence that this has already been attained.
