Trainee Financial Inclusion Officer (Ref: TFO)

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join the Financial Inclusion team, helping our local community with financial advice. You will be working with residents of Broxbourne Borough facing financial hardship, advising them on welfare benefits, income maximisation and access to other local services.
Your duties will include working closely with outside partners such as local housing associations, advice agencies, Broxbourne Foodbank and other charities. You will also be working with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) at the local Job Centre Plus office and work from different locations. The role is varied working with diverse client groups to deliver benefit advice, completing part assessments for Discretionary Housing Payment and also dealing with those at risk of homelessness. You will be an advocate for clients, where appropriate, managing a client caseload.
If you’re interested in this role you must be computer literate and have a minimum of five GCSE or equivalent passes at least grade C, which should include English and Maths. Experience of money advice and welfare benefits advice is preferred for the role but full training will be provided with an opportunity to study for a fully funded formal qualification of Accreditation in Money Advice under the Institute of Money Advisors (IMA). Some experience in a front facing role dealing with vulnerable or disadvantaged people is desirable. More importantly will be your ability to demonstrate your commitment to helping clients and making a difference to their lives.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential. A full driving licence would also be advantageous.
This role requires a disclosure and barring service check as it is working with children or vulnerable clients.
