  • Keen to earn an industry-leading salary, rising to a potential of more than £50k?

If you have answered 'Yes' to the above, then read on...

Who are we?

Respond Services are part of the Electrolux Service Force network of domestic appliance service companies. We are an exclusive service partner of Electrolux Home Appliances and undertake warranty and out-of-warranty repairs for AEG, Electrolux and Zanussi branded and OEM domestic appliances.

Our network reach covers a large region of south-east and south-west England, including Central and Greater London. We directly employ over 60 field-service engineers and the Group employs over 120 staff across service and retail sales operations.

What is the role?

We are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed candidates to join our Field Service Engineer training program, which provides the skills and experience to become a high-performing field service engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for hard-working and ambitious people who are looking to get into a new career as a service engineer.

Training is provided through a mixture of classroom sessions, manufacturer-provided courses, engineer accompaniments and one-to-one training support. After an initial electrical safety induction, you will be assessed through a Domestic Appliance Testing and Electrical Safety (DATES) course, which will be accredited by Electrolux. After several weeks of intensive training you will begin working unaccompanied, but with on-going support and product familiarisation sessions.

Basic salary during training starts at £24,000, with increments added to the basic upon achieving milestones in the training up to £27,000. Other salary enhancements include a London Allowance and Attendance Bonus. Overall salary expectations during the first year of employment are totally dependant on capability and the progress made by each candidate, with a realistic opportunity to achieve a salary in excess of £30k within the first year for the best candidates.

What type of person are we looking for?

The Respond Services trainee engineer programme provides training and support to enthusiastic candidates with a view to producing exceptional, high-performing domestic appliance service engineers. The cost of supporting a trainee through this programme is funded by Respond Services with the expectation of long service and commitment to the company. It is our expectation that the characteristics of individuals applying to join this programme will be compatible with those of high-performing engineers.

The best performing Respond Services engineers will receive an industry-leading remuneration package, which reflects the dedication, hard-work, talent and experience of the engineers. The top-performing engineers’ total annual salary will be in excess of £50k, which is uncapped. The efforts required to achieve this level will be entirely the responsibility of the candidate and will be determined by their attitude and approach to the position.

The qualities that we seek in each candidate are:

  • A demonstrable technical capability – this may be from previous work experience, training and qualifications, or personal interests. This will be displayed through their practical use of hand tools and understanding of technical concepts
  • Problem-solver – to become an exceptional engineer you must be able to fix appliances, which means you need to be able to determine a fault. The use of experience, component testing and an analytical approach to a repair are essential
  • Commitment – training an engineer is a significant cost and investment by Respond Services. This investment can only be made in candidates who can demonstrate commitment
  • Enthusiasm – the rewards for high-performing engineers are great, but it will take enthusiasm for the candidate to achieve this level
  • High performer – the type of person who excels at everything they put their minds to and produces results that exceed expectations
  • Personality – as the face of service for premium appliance brands, we expect you to provide consistent, excellent customer service. You must be a great communicator, with a friendly, can-do attitude
  • Excellent attendance record – our customers expect us to keep to our promised visit times and reliability is an essential quality
  • Full UK driving license with no more than 3 points and no previous disqualifications.
  • More than 2 years of driving experience.
  • You need to have a licence for a minimum of 3 years (This is an insurance requirement and is necessary for the job)
