Job description
As part of the expansion of Mental Health Support Teams nationwide, we are delighted that Surrey was successful in obtaining a further four MHST sites to add to our 9 existing MHSTs. We therefore invite you to consider being involved in this exciting opportunity to help to deliver the government vision and commitment to developing integrated mental health teams in schools.
Currently, we have MHSTs located inEpsom, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Elmbridge, Runnymede, Woking, Guildford, Waverley and Reigate and Banstead. Our four new MHSTs will begin in September 2023 and will be based in Mole Valley, Tandridge and 2 Surrey wide teams based out of Leatherhead. Additionally, we have vacancies in existing teams which we are recruiting to who are based across the county.
Building on existing 'whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing, Mental Health Support Teams work with primary and secondary schools to increase access to mental health interventions for children and young people up to the age of 18 years. Each MHST will be co-located in schools, operating from one of the main geographical hubs, with services delivered across the cluster of schools for each area.
Our MHSTs support young people with emerging or mild mental health problems, delivering evidence-based interventions based on the Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic (CBT) approach. This approach requires creativity, flexibility and above all a passion for working with young people in educational settings.
