Enfield has secured NHS England Trailblazer funding to develop new Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in Schools, as part of the government’s Green Paper ambitions to transform CYP mental health support in England. The Enfield MHST started in October 2019 working with a small number of early implementer schools to establish its relationships and support the training of a new workforce (The Education and Mental Health Practitioners), gradually increasing in waves to more schools in the borough. We are now looking for enthusiastic and motivated trainee Education and Mental Health Practitioners to train and work within Enfield CAMHS MHST as part of their placement, and then full time post qualifying, to support the team in this next phase of expansion.
During Training:
- Complete training as an Education Mental Health Practitioner with UCL/AFC and carry out duties and responsibilities, under supervision of educational staff.
- Complete a clinical placement at Enfield CAMHS MHST and carry out duties and responsibilities, under the supervision of their clinical supervisor.
- Under supervision and with support, to develop knowledge and practice skills in: • Delivering evidence-based intervention for children and young people, with mild to moderate mental health problems, in aneducation or community or health setting.
- Helping children and young people within these settings who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist service.
- Supporting and facilitating staff in education settings to identify, and where appropriate, manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.
- To evidence development of those skills with associated knowledge acquisition to record and evidence progression towards an academic award and demonstrable practical ability
- Following completion of training year and as a qualified Band 5 EMHP:
- The post holder will manage own caseloads and provide evidence-based support to children and young people.
- Contribute to the development of whole class / school approaches, and work closely with designated mental health leads.
- Support and train CWPs, EMHPs and other colleagues in evidence based, innovate practice within and outside of the organization.
BEH manages the renowned North London Forensic Services (NLFS), rated as 'Outstanding' by the CQC. This service treats and cares for people within the criminal justice system who have mental health conditions.
We also provide one of the largest eating disorder services in England, as well as drug and alcohol services and mental health liaison services in North Middlesex University Hospitals Trust.
