Job Description

At KPMG, our values define who we are and the way we do business. As a leading professional services firm, we know that our strength and capability come from our people – their different perspectives, experiences and backgrounds. From our inclusive leadership strategy to our diversity and inclusion targets – we’re making bold changes to who we are and what we do. Be part of it.

The Company Secretarial & Global Entity Management Team sits within KPMG Law. KPMG has a long history of successfully delivering multidisciplinary services to clients and our team plays an important part in that. Our vision is to be the company secretarial adviser of choice for KPMG’s clients in relation to compliance and governance matters. KPMG is now regulated by the SRA as a multi-disciplinary practice.[MM1]

We have ambitious growth plans for our team and KPMG Law as a whole is growing and expanding into other areas of law that fit within its vision and the needs of KPMG’s clients, making it an exciting time to join us.

KPMG Law is for people who are:

  • Team players who enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Approachable and keen to develop personally and professionally.
  • Passionate in pursuing a career within the company secretarial profession.
  • Intellectually curious, open-minded and analytical, with an eye for detail and pride in their work.
  • Driven and proactive professionals who deliver a great service to their clients.
  • Relationship builders who can spot and develop new opportunities both within the KPMG network and externally.
  • Flexible and able to easily adapt to a changing work environment.

Why you might want to join our team:

  • You want to develop your career within the company secretarial profession.
  • You can see the advantages of professional advice being provided within a multidisciplinary team.
  • You are ambitious and perceive the wealth of opportunities presented by a company secretarial team in a leading global professional services firm.
  • You are excited by the idea of being a member of a team that will continue to grow significantly.
  • You want to broaden your experience and become a well-rounded professional.
  • You want to achieve a sustainable work-life balance.

Key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Processing new company incorporation requests electronically through our specialist software.
  • Assisting with annual filing requirements on behalf of clients, including both the preparation and filing of documents.
  • Assisting with the preparation of legal documentation and Companies House forms relating to routine company changes.
  • Supporting internal colleagues with a broad range of company secretarial tasks and projects for clients where required.
  • Managing a portfolio of clients in relation to statutory filings and approvals, with the supervision of a senior member of the team.
  • Managing administrative tasks on behalf of the team, including maintenance of our specialist software, registered office service and new client set-up processes.
  • Ensuring strong working relationships are built, both with clients and colleagues alike.

Education and qualifications:

  • The applicant will have achieved a degree qualification.
  • Our team members are supported in their studies to become a Chartered Secretary/Governance Professional through the LLM in Corporate Governance.
  • If you have already commenced your studies through the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme or the LLM in Corporate Governance we will continue to support this route.

Skills and experience required:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the role of a company secretary.
  • Understanding of the basic principles of UK company law, corporate governance regulation, and best practice.
  • Friendly, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Solid IT skills with some experience of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous experience using a company secretarial database would be advantageous but is not essential.
