Clinical Neurophysiology is a medical discipline which provides investigations for the diagnosis of a wide range of neurological conditions. The investigations include EEGs, EMG/Nerve Conduction studies, and Evoked potentials which are undertaken on adults and children. It links a keen interest in healthcare science with a passion to work with patients and deliver an excellent service.
The role is very clinically based, and you will work closely with patients of all ages and abilities. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills in order to convey complex and sensitive information to patients, including those with learning or physical disabilities. It is an essential requirement that you are able to work with precision and speed and have a high level of hand- eye co-ordination.
The BSc in Healthcare Science (Neurophysiology) is delivered by the University of West England. It is primarily a distance learning course, but there is an expectation to attend some face to face learning on a block release basis, so a willingness to travel is essential. At other times you will be based within the hospital department training/working alongside a team of specialist clinical physiologists and medical consultants who will deliver the work-based training. This training will be assessed by the completion of a logbook of competence and professional exams.
The post will commence on 1st Aug 23 with the BSc in Healthcare Science starting in September 2023.
