About the Role
As a Trainee Assistant Buyer, you'll assist and support our Buying Teams to carry out the processes of planning, selecting, administration, supplier and store liaison to achieve the overall department objectives.
Please note we currently have both permanent and temporary Trainee Assistant Buyer opportunities available across all departments.
- Set up new supplier account details, ensuring all suppliers are aware of and understand Matalan’s requirements, communicating any issues to your Buying team.
- Liaise with suppliers to chase Red and Gold samples to ensure timely deliveries in line with the critical path and maintain an organised and tidy sample room.
- Conduct online and in-store benchmarking of key competitors to ensure we are offering the latest trends and products at the best price.
- Raising and tracking purchase orders
- Preparing product rooms for meetings
- Ad Hoc Administration Duties

About You
To find the best people for our Buying teams, we’d like you to have the following...
- A fashion or textile related qualification (A level equivalent or above)
- Retail and/or Buying experience would be advantageous
- Commercially focused
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Ability to work independently
