Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Trainee/Assistant Accountant will be responsible for preparation of accurate and timely management accounts and reports for specific operational areas of ASCO UK. Providing day to day financial support to the business area as well as implementing and adherence to financial controls and processes. Key responsibilities include:
- Work under guidance and with support of Senior Accountant and Finance Manager to develop a career in Finance / Accounting
- Strive to obtain a professional accounting qualification
- Preparation and reporting of management accounts
- Assist in preparation of budgets and forecasts for business area
- Preparation of financial analysis compared to budget/forecast
- Preparation of customer profitability analysis
- Reconciliations of financial data to operational systems and investigation of differences / anomalies
- Weekly reconciliations of payroll, reimbursables and third party costs.
- Provide financial information to operational areas and increase financial understanding of operational managers
- Work with operational teams to deliver business and financial improvements
- Prepare accurate and relevant balance sheet account reconciliations in a timely manner
- Gain an understanding of customer contracts and operational/financial drivers
- Assist with preparation of year end audit schedules in line with auditor deadlines
- Focus on detail, accuracy and consistency
- Ability to deliver accurate and timely financial information
- Commitment to a course of professional study
- Ability to meet work deadlines and communicate progress and potential issues effectively
- Strong Excel skills and experience of ERP systems
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Relevant degree/college qualifications/ work experience
- Relevant work experience
- Desire to progress through a business and develop personally and professionally
