We have the opportunity for successful applicant(s) to join our amazing team of trainee and qualified Enhanced and Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP) within the Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) Directorate at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT).
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated NMC/HCPC Registered Nurse’s, Paramedics or Physiotherapists with the right attributes and an interest in Emergency Care to work alongside our multidisciplinary team.
Modelled on the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) ACP curriculum and Health Education England (HEE) ACP framework (links below). We are able to support successful candidate(s) with academic study, clinical assessment, development of differential diagnosis, ordering and interpretation of appropriate investigations, developing technical skills and undertaking practical procedures. Therefore, we look for the candidate(s) with the right attributes and characteristics for our team. We will assess people not only on their academic and technical achievements but on their non-technical and communication skills.
On successful completion of a fully funded Master’s Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice, a Minor Injuries module and some internal competencies (e.g. ECG’s) and Work Place Based Assessments (WPBA’s) the post holder will then be promoted to Band 8a, with the expectation of commencing further academic study (inc. Paediatric module) and other training courses within 12 months of promotion.
Working a minimum of 30 hours per week the post holder will be developing their clinical practise under the supervision of an experienced multidisciplinary team as a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) within the Consultant led ED and iUTC or Practitioner led MIU. The post holder will develop through academic study and under supervision of a senior clinicians, their knowledge and skills in the safe assessment, treatment, referral and discharge of patients within an agreed scope of practice to provide patient-centred quality care within their designated area of work.

Working towards delivery of advanced standards of practice within the following key areas of practice and in line with the National Standards;

- Resource Management – ensures appropriate use and distribution or clinical and non-clinical resources. Support the development of junior staff across a multidisciplinary team.
- Health and Safety – plays their part in maintaining a safe working environment, undertake mandatory training and actioning/reporting any concerns.
- Risk Management – ensure dynamic risk assessments a carried out and if required report, mitigate, minimise risk to staff and service users.

- Prescribing responsibility – must ensure Prescribing within the Professional, legal and clinical boundaries whilst ensuring adherence to the Trusts Non-Medical Prescribing policy.
- Scope of Practice – must maintain a professional registration with one of the recognised professions for role and ensure they are working within their professional and Trust guidelines and Standards
