
Trainee Actuarial Analyst FTC 12 months Fareham, England
Job description
Actuarial roles work in a number of fields, primarily insurance and pensions, to manage risks. Responsibilities include the preparation of regular analyses and valuation calculations by product, statutory reporting to regulatory authorities and/or management, supporting the management of insurance rates, premiums, products and policies, and supporting sales colleagues/channel partners in administrative areas such as customer quotes, information, training etc.
The UK and Group Insurance entities are supported by a number of Actuarial teams which are primarily based in Whiteley. These teams are the UK Actuarial Function, UK Pricing Team and other Group Actuarial teams.
The purpose of the role is:
- To contribute to the work produced by one of the UK or Group Actuarial teams in the following areas: experience analyses, IFRS reporting, local statutory reporting, economic capital calculations, pricing, model governance and ad-hoc project work.
- To contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of the processes for the above activities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing specific routine activities and processes ensuring the accuracy of tasks performed
- Supporting the delivery of projects. Typically, working on smaller projects/assignments
- Identifying and escalating issues
- Ensuring the quality of tasks/services provided by themselves and others, through general supervision or regular process checks or the reviewing of output by a co-worker and/or supervisor
- Providing on-the-job training or support to other team members
- Applying acquired knowledge to provide assistance to others
- Understanding and adhering to established policies and procedures in own team
- Supporting change initiatives and escalate any concerns
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- A degree (or studying towards) in numerate discipline (at least second class honours) – Essential
- A student member of the Institute / Faculty of Actuaries or ability to become one – Essential
- Able to apply knowledge of financial services products to a working environment – Desirable.
- Basic IT skills – Essential.
- Knowledge of Excel, VBA, SAS, SQL\Database and/or Prophet – Desirable.
- Awareness of Google Cloud Platform and Python – Desirable.
- Ability to communicate information in a confident and structured manner to all levels of management.
- Ability to influence business managers, to establish and maintain co-operation.
- Good organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to operate within cross functional teams.
- Leadership and customer relationship management skills.
