Job description
The Control Operations Manager is looking for a Train Service Controller based at our Railway Operating Centre.
As a Train Service Controller you will work within a team of Controllers dedicated to the on time and capacity delivery of Northern’s train services across the business.
You will be the Focal point within Northern Control for all minute-by-minute train running, capacity and maintenance delivery requirements, with the ability to work to contingency plans but have the confidence to think of other solutions where required to keep our Customers moving and informed.
About you:
The ability to work continental shift patterns including early mornings, late afternoons and consistent weekend work
- To be able to work on your own initiative and as part of the Control Team
- Comprehensive geographical understanding of the Northern Network
- Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer delivery
- Full knowledge of the requirements of the Passenger Information During Disruption initiative
- Proven people management skills and persuasive attributes
- Previous experience in logistics would be beneficial
- This role is not safety critical.
