What you will be doing

Our Traffic Attendants are the eyes and ears of the local community, patrolling areas, and providing advice to residents and members of the public, whist enforcing road traffic orders and issuing parking fines. You will play a significant role in reducing traffic congestion through the enforcement of parking restrictions. Your day will be spent, mostly outside, in all weathers, walking up to 10 miles per day, so please consider this before you apply. You will be dealing with members of the public, face to face, so customer service must be something you enjoy, sometimes in difficult situations.

  • 25 days’ holiday plus 11 bank holidays, 5 of which are operational and will be paid at a premium rate (£32.37 per hour) or take time in lieu.
  • Saturdays paid at a premium rate. (£16.19 per hour)
  • Sundays paid at a premium rate. (£21.58 per hour) Sundays are worked on a volunteer basis.

You will be someone who:

· Enjoys working outdoors, helping people and has great communication skills.

· Has excellent interpersonal skills and can adapt your approach to any situation you may encounter.

· Must enjoy dealing with people, be friendly & polite, and be willing to offer support, advice and assistance to colleagues and customers.

· Has a basic knowledge of using a handheld mobile phone or tablet, but this would not be essential.

· Can work successfully as part of a team as well as taking on tasks as an individual.

· Has basic numeracy and literacy skills.
