This is an exciting opportunity to join our Compliance and Trading Law team on a permanent basis as a paralegal, based at our Nottingham Support Office. We are looking for someone who is curious and has a keen desire to learn, with a goal of supporting the ongoing development of the compliance programme across the Boots and No7 Beauty Company buisenesses. There will also be a fantastic opportunity to provide trading law support on important matters alongside a well-established team of experts.
About the role:
The Compliance and Trading Law Paralegal will provide critical support to the VP General Counsel, Boots and Senior Compliance & Trading Law Manager within the in-house legal team at Boots. The role will help to develop and drive the Boots compliance and ethics program and the No7 Beauty Company. This role will also play a crucial role in helping Boots and the No7 Beauty Company to comply with applicable legal, regulatory and internal policy requirements. There will also be an opportunity to assist in the provision of day to day trading law advice to key business stakeholders.
- Support the Senior Compliance & Trading Law Manager to continue to drive a culture of compliance and ethics across Boots and the No7 Beauty Company.
- Support the business to implement processes and procedures to ensure legal, regulatory and internal policy compliance and implementation.
- Facilitate improved documentation of internal policy governance processes, developing and maintaining template documents to ensure future consistency.
- Assist in the provision of training, guidance and updates to the relevant cross-functional business stakeholders on compliance related matters, including creating a systemic ability to track deployment and completion.
- Assist with sensitive compliance and whistleblowing investigations as required.
- Working with the Senior Compliance & Trading Law Manager and Risk and Compliance Manager to develop automated compliance reporting methods that allow the VP General Counsel, Boots to see an overview of compliance activity and issues at any point in time.
- Support the Boots Data Privacy team with governance of existing processes and procedures aimed at ensuring with applicable data protection law.
- Work with the Risk and Compliance Manager to manage and report on the business whistleblowing processes and activity.
- Provide support with Governance, Risk and Compliance meeting structure and reporting. With the support of the Senior Trading Law Manager, engage with key business stakeholders as required.
- Support the Senior Compliance & Trading Law Manager and Trading Law Manager in providing business focussed trading law advice, including marketing content approval, in line with legal requirements.

What you'll need to have:
- A keen interest in business governance and controls.
- Strong logical thinking and the ability to help implement compliance-related processes and procedures and how to document them.
- Must be a strong team player, but also be capable of working independently to collaborate with other business functions.
- Flexible and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Clear and effective communication skills, particularly when dealing with senior business leaders.
- Demonstrate a “can do” attitude and creative thinking.
- Exceptional attention to detail is a must.
- Strong reporting and analytical skills to provide the business with a holistic view of overall compliance matters at any point in time. Ability to automate compliance reporting via Microsoft Power Automate is desirable.
It would be great if you also have:
- An undergraduate law degree or equivalent
- An interest in compliance and consumer protection law and their practical application.
- Strong organisational skills and a structured approach to work.
- Ability to automate compliance reporting via Microsoft Power Automate is desirable.
