Humberside Police are looking for a Clerical Assistant to join our Witness Care team on a temporary basis. In this role you will provide efficient and effective administrative support to enable the processing of victims and witnesses to attend court.
We are looking for candidates who are strong communicators, as you will need to relay precise and accurate information to internal staff, third parties, victims, and witnesses. Building and maintaining these relationships will be key to success in the role, as team work internally and externally is needed to ensure parties/agencies have the correct information at the correct time.
As well as this, you will need to have a great attention to detail, as it is critical that records in systems and communication sent is accurate, taking care to follow GDPR and disclosure of information guidelines. Computer literacy is key, as much of the job relies on you using Police systems, Microsoft packages and sending emails.
Finally, in this role you will be expected to undertake a wide range of clerical duties such as printing, all aspect of incoming and outgoing mail, document collating, scanning and stock control. As well as this, you will deal with routine enquiries via phone or email and update systems/redirect to the appropriate parties.
What is required?
- Literate and Numerate, educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Experience of relevant clerical work incorporating a wide range of duties.
- Computer literate, including experience of using computers to input, amend and extract information.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
- Ability to use initiative relating to non-routine matters, as well as an understanding of when to refer matters to a senior officer.
