Job description

We are seeking for reliable and dedicated staff to work in our new Hardware & DIY Store. You will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. You will assist customers with their hardware and do-it-yourself needs, offer product advice, handle transactions, and maintain a clean and organized store environment. This position requires excellent communication skills, and a friendly and helpful attitude. If you have understanding of hardware and DIY products it is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Serve customers in a friendly and professional manner, offering assistance and guidance.
  • Understand customer needs and provide accurate information and advice on hardware and DIY products.
  • Assist customers in locating specific products, including tools, building materials, electrical supplies, plumbing fixtures, and other relevant items.
  • Maintain a well-organized and visually appealing store layout, ensuring products are properly stocked and displayed.
  • Monitor inventory levels, notify management of low stock items, and assist with inventory management.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the store's point-of-sale system.
  • Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring proper accounting and adherence to store policies.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, and exchanges as required, following established guidelines
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe store environment, including aisles, shelves, and display areas.
  • Perform regular inventory checks to maintain accurate stock levels and assist with receiving shipments.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a retail environment, preferably in hardware, home improvement, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware, tools, building materials, and DIY products.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Proficient in operating a cash register and handling monetary transactions.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and bending or reaching.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 35 per week

Salary: £9.00-£11.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Flexitime
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • London: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
