Capula Investment Management is a leading global quantitative hedge fund with an AUM of $27 billion. We manage absolute return, enhanced fixed income, macro and alpha strategies for a diversified group of investors worldwide. Capula invests in a broad universe of asset classes, including fixed income, equities, currencies and commodities, as well as derivatives related to these asset classes.
The Internship Programme:
We welcome 2024 summer internship applications for all of our global offices (London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo), however the majority of the interns will join our London headquarters. Please specify in your application which office(s) you would like to be considered for.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the industry's best traders who have an excellent, proven track record. You'll be matched with a specific team and will take away with you first-hand experience of working with quantitative traders, developing specific strategies and models that will be put into practice.
The internship typically runs for ten weeks from June to August, however we can be flexible regarding exact dates. At the start of the summer, you will join all other global interns for an 'Intern Orientation Week' in London. Throughout this week you will participate in training and activities that will help prepare you with the skills and knowledge to excel in the internship:
- Training on financial markets;
- Trading Simulation game;
- Presentations from senior stakeholders and managers of front office and support teams; and
- Social and networking activities including an intern dinner with Senior Portfolio Managers
Your responsibilities as an intern will include:
- Working closely with Traders, Portfolio Managers and Quantitative Researchers on defined project(s) leading directly to trading decisions;
- Receiving and participating in training in financial modelling, analysis, research methods and trading strategies;
- Evaluating market conditions and economic data analysis;
- Assisting in developing research ideas to support the desk's trading strategies; and
- Developing tools and reports to aid in trade analysis and identification
The recruitment process is typically as follows:
- Initial interview with the Talent team
- Interview with the Chief of Staff
- Quantitative interview and Excel task with a member of the Quantitative Strategy team
- Final interview with a Senior Trader or Portfolio Manager
Requirements
Who we're looking for:
- Students working towards a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering etc.)
- We encourage students in every year of their degree to apply, however we will give preference to students in their penultimate or final year of their studies
- A demonstrable interest in financial markets and trading (although no previous finance experience is required)
- Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills
- Experience with Excel and Python (C++, R and Java are also beneficial, though not essential)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
