About our team


Our Market Abuse team sits within the UK Financial Crime team. We work with clients to investigate and remediate issues, transform financial crime functions and prepare for and respond to regulation and regulatory scrutiny. Our team offers expertise in financial services, regulatory analysis, policy and technology. This expertise allows us to facilitate responsive and robust investigations driven by analytics, remediation built around technologies to improve efficiency and a data driven technology response to regulation and regulation enforcement.

Our Market Abuse team supports clients active in financial markets and commodities markets as they seek to manage their market abuse and financial crime risks. The team combines regulatory, risk, markets expertise and data and technology experts. All team members are encouraged to continue developing their own skill set, and we support continuing professional development in capabilities suitable for each individual.

Your Main Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Supporting market abuse vendor evaluations and assistance for surveillance strategic roadmaps

  • Market abuse surveillance implementation and calibration (e.g. detection scenario selection, instance identification, testing, parameter setting and tuning)

  • Data driven surveillance effectiveness review and optimisation

  • Reviewing end-to-end data and process flow supporting surveillance implementations

  • Supporting market abuse risk assessment activities and assistance in dealing with regulatory enquiries

  • Actively contributing on client-facing project work, being self-starting and motivated to produce the required high standard of deliverables

  • Actively contributing to business development and proposition development activities, supporting sales activities.


Essential skills:


In order to be successful you will need to show ability in most of the following areas:

  • Experience of market abuse surveillance functions and solutions

  • Experience of market abuse vendor solution implementation and refinement

  • Knowledge of different types of market abuse risks and their manifestations

  • Experience of hands on data analysis, and summarising data for senior stakeholders

  • Demonstrable technical knowledge of specific wholesale banking products and asset classes or commodities products

  • Knowledge and interest in the Market Abuse regulatory environment

  • Experience of risk management tasks and approaches

  • Ability to comfortably discuss and explain technical matters to technical and non-technical audiences

Desirable skills:

  • Demonstrable evidence of technical, data and coding capabilities

  • Demonstrable evidence of interest in regulatory or compliance risk
