This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic analytical scientist to join a trace analysis and extractable and leachable (E&L) team in an industry leading pharmaceutical company.
The successful candidate will join a team that utilises state-of-the-art LC-MS and GC-MS instrumentation in order to provide key information for projects at all stages of pharmaceutical development. In this hands-on, lab-based position the successful candidate will primarily undertake trace analysis of extractable and leachables in pharmaceutical samples by mass spectrometry (LC-MS(/MS) and GC-MS(/MS)). The successful candidate will work with a high level of autonomy and contribute to analytical projects (from sample preparation through to final report) as well as leading the development of trace level control strategies for individual projects, contributing to regulatory submissions and overseeing completion of work packages placed at CROs. The successful candidate must be a high calibre analytical chemist graduate or a PhD with at least 3 years experience performing quantitative trace analysis by LC-MS(/MS) and GC-MS(/MS) with knowledge of project management.
In this role you will
- Trace level quantitation of small molecules by mass spectrometry
- Sample preparation/isolation
- Developing novel LC-MS(/MS) and GC-MS(/MS) methods
- Development of trace level control strategies for individual projects
- Project management and contribution to regulatory submissions

- BSc or PhD in Chemistry or related field
- Strong communication, project management and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and problem solve with a track record of generating high quality data and reports
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS and/or GC-MS
- Experience in quantitative trace analysis by MS
- Experience optimising and/or developing chromatographic and instrument methods
- Experience in a regulated GMP laboratory
