An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a skilled Toolmaker to join us at the Precision Machining Facility in Derby.
The Precision Machining Facility (PMF) is at the forefront of advanced Turbine blade design and manufacture supporting civil and defence aerospace applications and meeting demands of new engine product introduction and aftermarket services.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for making parts from engineering drawings along with maintaining a range of tooling and fixtures within our busy Turbine blade production facility. You will work as part of an established team accountable for all aspects of tooling and fixture maintenance. It includes fault rectification, equipment servicing, engagement with suppliers, implementing improvement ideas and driving KPI-s to ensure maximum equipment availability for operations.

What you will be doing:
You will be responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of tooling, dies, machining and inspection fixtures. You will also:
- Perform a range of routine and reactive, maintenance on tooling and fixtures across a broad range of manufacturing assets.
- Ensure that manufacturing equipment is safe, available and capable for use when required.
- Analyse equipment data to inform and implement the most effective approach towards repair, manufacture or modification.
- Safely operate site specific equipment and actively drive adherence to the company Health and Safety requirements and Zero harm culture.
- Work with the Manufacturing Engineers to help understand and implement tooling requirements. Liaise with the onsite spares integrator to ensure spares inventory reflects operational demands with minimal inventory.
- Problem solving, making sound recommendations based on judgement, training and previous experience. Recommend and implement improvements.
- Complete and maintain documentation and records.
Who we are looking for:

- Completed advanced level engineering apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Understanding and ability to use gauges, inspection equipment and computerised measuring equipment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacture components based on them.
- Experience in operating manual and CNC machine tools to a high degree in order to manufacture components to Engineering drawings. Experience in programming CNC machine tools preferable.
- Ability to reverse-engineer and manufacture components where drawings aren’t available.
- Basic IT literacy. Ability to use CAD/CAM PLM software to design parts and create technical drawings is preferable but not essential.
