An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Learning Disability Directorate of Aneurin Bevan University Heath Board for an enthusiastic, motivated person to join a team that supports 5 individuals who have profound and multiple learning disabilities and associated complex nursing needs.
This is a permanent Band 3 Therapies Assistant (Occupational Therapy) position and based at Twyn Glas.
You will assist and ensure effective delivery of quality care to people with Profound and Multiple learning disabilities and complex physical needs.
Individuals will be supported in promoting their independence, choice, personal beliefs and identity using a personalised range of augmented communication methods.
You will help ensure sensory integration is taken into account and develop structured daytime activities using active support model and use of community facilities.
The Team comprises of a Nurse Manager, Deputy Manager / Band 5 Registered Nurses and Band 4/3 Therapies Support Workers and Health Care Support Workers.
You will work as part of a team providing a person centred approach to support the service users to live in their own home and will support the assessment, care and provision of therapeutic interventions and activities for each individual through Active Support and Positive Behaviour Support.
This role demands 24 hour flexible duty cover over a 7 day period including Weekends and Bank Holidays.
This post is integral to the team working in in Twyn Glas Unit Aneurin Bevan Health Board. The post holder will be expected to work a daytime shift pattern with day to day line management provided by Twyn Glas unit manager. Professional supervision will be provided by a Learning Disability Occupational Therapist.
The post holder will support therapies within the unit working closely with the unit Band 4 OTTI to implement and embed Occupational Therapy approaches to adults with learning disability on an individual or group basis. They will also follow therapeutic interventions as recommended by a range of therapy professionals and assistants. They will be able to role model therapeutic interventions to other staff. The post holder will be expected to undertake specific technical and administrative tasks as directed by the supervising occupational therapist, and as agreed by the band 4 OTTI in the unit.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
