Ref 18585 Division/Department Wards, Theatres & Nursing Admin | Theatre (0150) Location Onsite - Hospital/Hospice Employment type Full-time Salary £32,580 DBS required Enhanced Hours 37.5 Closing date 27/10/2023 Description We are seeking an experienced Theatre Support Worker/ Healthcare Assistant to join our Theatre team in delivering a first class service to both our patients and staff. The successful applicant will have been working in Theatres recently and will be up to date in current practices. Will provide care of patients undergoing invasive procedures admitted to the hospital and will provide surgical services to Consultants. Located in leafy St John’s Wood on the Jubilee line, minutes from Central London, our luxury private Hospital has an international reputation for providing the highest quality of care to patients and is unique in that all profits fund our onsite Hospice, St John’s. What are the main responsibilities of Theatre HCA Role? Assisting with the provision of a safe Perioperative environment for patients, staff and visitors within the Theatre Suite Assisting staff in setting up theatres with equipment and supplies Participating in circulating duties, providing the Scrub Practitioner with the necessary materials and equipment while adhering to strict Aseptic principles. Assisting with the moving and handling of patients and loads Ensuring that patient privacy and dignity are respected at all times Recognising a clinical emergency and respond in a positive appropriate manner Demonstrating and maintaining awareness of patient confidentiality and ensure a safe and secure environment at all times To be aware of, and demonstrate adherence to, the Hospital’s policy on infection control with special attention to provision and use of PPE and sharps awareness. Completion of the Intraoperative patient record and accurate traceability of prosthesis records of all endoscopes, endoscopy accessories and Theatre equipment Maintain accurate maintenance records of all equipment and room checks To adhere to the recommendations for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and risk assessments appropriate to the clinical area To participate in maintaining a clean environment Actively participate in the cleaning of theatres between cases and at the end of a list using the appropriate equipment, PPE and detergents maintaining high standards of cleanliness To assist in the checking, unpacking and storing of items delivered to the clinical area To liaise with the Theatre Coordinator and Estates to ensure that maintenance problems are reported to the Estates maintenance desk promptly To report any accidents or incidents to the coordinator on duty and to complete the necessary Datix report To be aware of potential hazards to patients, staff and visitors and report to person in charge any problems or faults To answer the telephone in a courteous manner and relay both verbal and written messages accurately and promptly Am I the right person for this Theatre Support Worker Role? Good level of education, minimum GCSE Basic computer skills NVQ level 3 or equivalent The Care certificate is desirable Experience of team work and completing set objectives Previous Theatre Support Worker experience is desirable Infection control within the Perioperative environment Problem solving and ability to communicate with clarity and intelligibility in both written and spoken English Able to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills Ability to maintain a sterile field and safety within the Theatre Good attendance record Flexibility to change shifts when department needs change Enthusiastic, Reliable and able to work under pressure Neat and tidy appearance Why apply for this role as a Theatre Support Worker?
