Textile Operatives
This new facility processes worsted spun yarns and is the first wool spinning company to open in the UK for many years. This was a major investment and utilises the latest technology for drawing, spinning, winding & twisting. The facility is situated on New Hey Road, Oakes, Huddersfield, HD3 4BZ.
Having been producing yarn since June 2022, we are now welcoming applications from candidates wanting to join us as textile operatives in order to further expand our operations. Shift patterns / Hours
- Night Shift (48 hours per week) Monday to Thursday: 18:00 –06:00
- Day Shift (48 hours per week) Monday to Thursday: 06:00 – 18:00
- Weekend Shift (36 hours per week) Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 06:00 – 18:00
Main Role:
To operate machinery within the textile mill ensuring adherence to health & safety, quality and environmental standards. To succeed in the role, you will be comfortable understanding and following work instructions and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials where appropriate
- Monitor machines to ensure their smooth and effective operation
- Follow the work procedures for the task / machine, ensuring high quality standards are maintained
- Work in a safe manner reporting any issues to management
- Record key data effectively and accurately
- Communicate effectively with other colleagues and managers during the shift, ensuring any faults are reported promptly
- Keep machinery and work areas clean and tidy at all times
- Contribute towards achieving daily targets
- Any other reasonable duties as requested by your manager
Personal Skills:
- This is a physical role, involving regular manual handling; you will be on your feet throughout the shift
- Good observation skills and attention to detail is important
- You will have good organisational skills and be able to prioritise work tasks effectively
- Flexibility will be key as you will need to support and operate across different departments
- You will demonstrate a proactive approach to Health and Safety
The Ideal Candidates will also:
- Be willing and able to learn new tasks and develop new skills
- Have good attendance and timekeeping
- Work well as part of a team
Previous Experience / Qualifications:
- Previous experience in textiles manufacturing; drawing, spinning, winding, twisting and steaming would be advantageous
- Previous experience in other textiles processing or in a manufacturing environment would also be beneficial
- There are no specific qualifications required for the role. However, textile-focused qualifications are desirable
