This role can be based in any of the following locations: Birmingham, Chesterfield, Glasgow, Hatfield, London or Manchester
Please note - Successful candidates will be subject to SC clearance, meaning you will require UK residency for at least 5 years. NPPV 2 / 3 vetting will also be required.
About this role:
The work is vitally important to our customers services and the underpinning solutions. Without this key role, BT would be unable to meet its contractual obligations and would be at risk of financial and reputational impact. You will conduct end to end test activities on medium to high complexity projects and undertake first level diagnostics, using various test tools and test techniques based on their knowledge, experience, and training. You'll write core documentation around test specifications, test scripts and will run the test scripts to time cost and quality to ensure the integrity of the solutions we provide.
You'll have the following responsibilities:
- Creating quality testing documentation (plans, reports and scripts), in line with the test strategy
- Developing plans to define the depth of testing required, data sources and key deliverables
- Conduct test activities at BT core sites and/or customer / supplier sites
- Identify and analyse defects or issues to understand impacts, reporting on and discussing findings to enable mitigation or resolution
- Apply best practice ISTQB techniques, using expertise to tailor the test approach depending on the needs of the project
- Manage multiple deliveries simultaneously, whilst ensuring the integrity of the test and Validation role is maintained
- Report and communicate progress internally and may require some engagement with the customer
- Actively support wider team initiatives such as CI and Your Say
You'll have the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience in working in an IT environment using the ITIL framework
- Strong understanding of Test and Validation processes and procedures (ISTQB qualified or will attain within 12 months)
- Security Clearance to the required level (SC and / or NPPV 2 & 3)
- Strong understanding on ITIL framework (qualified or will attain ITIL4 Foundation within 12 months)
- Drives improvements to the Test and Validation process and is responsible for maintaining the continual improvement ethos
- Strong customer focus and drive to provide proactive, pre-emptive, and best in class service
- Possesses the ability to take well-evaluated risks and be audacious in making decisions and acting
- Clear focus on continuous improvement and uses initiatives such as upskilling, automation and process improvement on a regular basis across their area of expertise and specific processes
