This role will be ideally suited to those who have strong customer service experience within a customer facing retail environment. Customer facing horticultural experience i.e. garden centre work or merchandiser experience will be preferred.

Mr Fothergill's Seeds is a market-leading supplier of Seeds, Propagation and Garden Gifting products within the Gardening and FMCG Industry. Our products are sold through garden centres and leading national retailer groups such as Homebase, Notcutts, and Blue Diamond.

We are currently looking for 2 Territory Managers to join our fantastic Field Sales team! Both roles are full time and will cover different geographical areas.

The first opportunity will see the Territory Manager covering the M4 corridor from Bristol to Newbury and the M5 from Bristol to Tewkesbury. The base of the ideal candidate will be Swindon, Wiltshire, however candidates based elsewhere within the bounds of the territory will be considered.

The second opportunity will see the Territory Manager covering the A1 corridor from Peterborough to Grantham. The base of the ideal candidate will either be North Peterborough area, Stamford in Lincolnshire, or West Notts, however candidates based elsewhere within the bounds of the territory will be considered.

The primary function of this role is to increase sales and distribution of Mr Fothergill's products through the designated geographic area, whilst maintaining exceptional customer relationships. You will manage the nominated sales territory, perform promotional activity, build strong customer relationships, and achieve budgets and strategic objectives. The role is suited to someone that is passionate about targeting new business, growing sales within existing customers and is looking for an opportunity to progress their sales career.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reviewing and servicing an existing account base of around 150-200 customers, looking for gaps and opportunities for business. Existing customers will include a mixture of independent retailers and key account retailers.

Growing market share within the existing customer base.

Achieving both the territory targets and budget.

Focusing on merchandising opportunities, growing core ranges, ensuring product visibility to achieve sales objectives.

Building and maintaining relationships.

Proactively pre-empting the needs of key customers.

Developing strong relationships with key accounts.

Range reviews/promotional activity – reviewing ranges regularly throughout the year, to ensure we are adding value to our customers’ business.

Providing accurate and prompt feedback regarding activity in your territory including competitor activity.

Attending promotional events.

What You’ll Need to Bring

Essential

Relevant experience in a similar position across the FMCG Sales Sector.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Availability to travel within the region.

Good time management skills with an ability to effectively prioritise calls to ensure that customer call requirements are met.

Ability to manage and grow existing accounts successfully.

Highly self-motivated and proactive with good attention to detail.

A positive mental attitude and a willingness to attend to ad hoc tasks as required.

Respect for others and cultural viewpoints and perspectives.

A strong work ethic and the ability to work efficiently and effectively both autonomously and as part of a team.

Willingness to suggest and implement strategies to aim for continuous improvement.

Current clean UK driver's license
