Job description
Tennis Coach
Based: Bodmin Leisure Centre
Up to
GLL is looking for Tennis Coaches based at Bodmin Leisure Centre in Cornwall. Tennis is one of our key sports and an area of focus for us at GLL. As part of our charitable social enterprise status, we aim to make tennis accessible and affordable to all sections of the community that we work within. We believe that sport and fitness should be available to everyone and as such, are looking for inspirational Tennis Coaches to bring tennis to more people than ever before. You’ll live and breathe tennis. Your passion for the sport will be infectious. Although you’ll enjoy the performance aspect of coaching, what you really love is getting more and more people to play – especially a ‘non-traditional’ tennis audience.
Our facilities, including dedicated tennis centres as well as those housed in leisure centres, span London (North, South, East and West London) and are in some of the most diverse and sometimes deprived areas in the country, so it goes without saying that you’ll be able to inspire, motivate and encourage tennis participation amongst a variety of people. And with our strong relationship with the Lawn Tennis Association and infrastructure to develop tennis all over London, you’ll be able to develop a great career in tennis with us too.
An experienced coach, you’ll be qualified to Level 2, or be a community-driven Level 3 coach. You’ll need to be driven, passionate about what you do and able to work independently but with the support and guidance of our Tennis Managers.
You’ll benefit from the support that a large organisation such as GLL can bring, in particular from our Tennis and Sports Unit teams. Ideas and innovation are what we thrive on, so you’ll be encouraged to think outside of the box and also to get involved in coaching a range of tennis sessions including toddler tennis, Mini Tennis and other variations of social tennis. In return, we offer a range of benefits that you’d expect from the UK’s largest leisure provider: • Pension schemes • Discounted membership at our leisure centres • Career pathways • Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best If you feel that your passion and experience can get more people playing tennis, apply now
Closing date: 31st May 2023
The welfare and safety of the children in our care is of the utmost importance to us at GLL. We follow safer recruitment procedures to ensure that our staff are checked and appropriate to work with children and young people. Therefore we’ll require you to complete an enhance DBS check before you will be allowed to start work. All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications and location. About Us GLL is the UK’s largest leisure provider and one of the first and largest leisure social enterprises. Our aim is to get more people, more active, more of the time whilst making leisure and community facilities accessible and affordable. We partner with local authorities to run leisure centres, swimming pools, libraries, children’s centres, spas, events spaces and world-class sporting venues such as the Copper Box Arena and London Aquatics Centre on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - all under our Better brand. As a not-for-profit organisation, we’re different. Passionate about seeing our communities thrive, we invest back into our facilities, projects and people and are an Investors in People Silver Award employer. GLL is an equal opportunities employer.
