About the Role
Base Location: Perth, Inverness or Aberdeen
Salary: £47,872 - £55,653 + car / allowance + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available
The duties and responsibilities of the Telecoms Engineer are:
- To assess and understand the current SSEN Transmission telecommunications network, maintaining and enhancing asset records and technical diagrams.
- You should be able to assess current network information, making suggestions for improvement focusing on resilience and enhancing site connectivity.
- You will be required to communicate effectively to various stakeholders, developing the high level design of telecoms infrastructure, cost estimating and programming.
- Furthermore, you will be responsible for the creation and review of new and existing technical specifications, ensuring they are kept up to date with industry requirements.
- You will take part in project and operational meetings, providing technical expertise and guidance.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- You should have knowledge of operations critical telecoms services for 24/7, 365 organisations, preferably within the critical national infrastructure environment or similar transferrable (Emergency Services, Military, Oil &Gas, Renewables).
- It's preferred that you will have an understanding of industry technologies such as SCADA and Protection & Control, but not compulsory.
- You will be able to differentiate between critical and non-critical services and prioritise during planning and fault analysis activities.
- Furthermore, you'll have the capacity to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis in a demanding environment. You will be comfortable as the client and such, be able to get the best out of framework contract and support partners.
- You should be proficient in the use of role specific computer software including Microsoft Visio and Excel, as well as knowledge of Asset Management systems such as Maximo and GIS.
