Telecoms Engineers/Network and Data cablers/Splicers
Location: West London
Type: Contract
Salary: Competitive daily rate (depending on experience)
My client are a boutique full fibre internet services provider, who are currently working on a project whereby they are installing FTTP (Fibre to the Premises). Providing innovative technology solutions across the UK with a clear focus on growth and sustainability, my client is passionate about becoming the leading suppliers of trusted and reliable network solutions to its customers.
My client are looking for experienced engineers who could come in and hit the ground running with little or no training.
The main responsibilities required for the job will be:
- pulling in bunched up cable from outside each flat/premises
- drilling a hole through a brick wall
- threading the cable through the hole
- covering the hole on the outside with a brick dust cover
- terminating the 4 core fibre in a 4 fibre termination box in the following order; green, red, blue yellow - winding 4 fibres up to a metre long inside. 6 inches is definitely not long enough in case of broken fibres
- flashing a laser light up the fibre to identify where it comes out in the comms cabinet
- attaching the first fibre - green - to the router or modem and then to the router
- in some cases, extending the cable inside or outside using splicing
- splicing and testing of external optical fibres to the end customer premises in line with quality standards
- supporting other team members where necessary in order to ensure that residential and business customers stay connected
- working to agreed timeframes and SLA’s in project/service delivery
- communicating effectively with key stakeholders, displaying professionalism and excellent customer service
The following criteria will place you at an extreme advantage:
· Hold a full UK driver’s licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points
· At least 1-2 years’ experience as a telecoms engineer, working on installations, data cabling, network connectivity and splicing
· Confident working at heights and in the underground network
· All applicants will need to come equipped with their own van, splicer, ladder, glue gun and Hammer drill - strong enough to drill through a brick wall. Applicants without these will not be considered
· Excellent communication skills
