Job Description
As the Senior Systems Engineer - Radio/Radar/IP Networking, you will provide "hands-on" Technical Expertise and Leadership for the design, build, and implementation of Radio Network Systems.
- Technical Expertise and Leadership for Engineering Visions/Concepts from the white board through the lab to the field
- Solutioning through design and problem-solving practises, through collaboration and learning with a team of capable peer and junior telecommunications SMEs
- Be accountable for all plans subordinate to the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) e.g., Integration, Test, and Acceptance Management Plan (ITEAP)
- Delivering technology solutions from the early phases of design through to fielded solutions
- Design, Document, Present, Build, Support designs and solutions.
- Integration and management of third-party Vendor Products (COTS/MOTS).
- Assist the engineering transition from the bid phase into the delivery phase.
- Performing senior technical customer relationship management and perform inter-project technical relationship management with our existing and future customers.
- Develop solutions for demonstration and trial networks within your portfolio of responsible projects.
- Provide Systems Engineering expertise for existing and emerging COTS/MOTS Network technologies.
- Liaise and collaborate with peer individuals and organisations across the business.
- Support Business Development, Marketing and Capture activities with your technical expertise and knowledge.
- Producing Systems requirements and use cases, for architectures, systems, sub systems and components.
- Conduct results analysis, adjustment, and validation.
- Apply best-placed systems engineering practices and methods to develop systems that fully meet requirements.
- Undertake the specification, design, implementation, test, and integration in line with required standards.
- Extracting customer requirements, and in the absence of clearly defined specifications be able to understand the customer's underlying goals in order propose requirements.
- Responsibility for the sourcing COTS\MOTS equipment to support system requirements.
- Manual handling will be required at test and demonstration sites.
- Be a technical mentor to junior engineers.
The Successful Applicant
The Senior Systems Engineer - Radio/Radar/IP Networking will have a proven track record in Radio Networking Engineering, with proven success in Trials, Demonstrations and Deployment:
- Proven Radio Networking Engineering experience within defence and/or commercial telecommunication systems
- Experience in Engineering of Open Standard Telecommunications technologies
- Experience of new product and solution design, fielding and support within an R&D environment
- Work within a fast-moving SME environment on both small and large projects
- Engineering Expertise in both the Office, Lab and Field
- Experience in the application of COTS/MOTS products within Wireless Networking Solutions
- Understanding of IP routing/switching technologies
- Knowledge in verification and validation of tests against system requirement.
- Strong Understanding of RF networking systems as IP Bearer systems
- Experience in the design, build and support of demonstrations and/or operational deployments
- Production of technical reports and engineering documentation
- Knowledge of geographically dispersed telecommunication networks
- Awareness of software development environments process and support
- Comfortable with Military systems, environments, communities, and ethos
- Experienced in Technical Management, Planning, Leadership and Mentoring
- Production of technical reports and engineering documentation
- An Understanding of Systems Engineering, Integration, Testing, Acceptance V-Model, ITEAP, VVRM etc.
- Experienced in customer and Vendor collaboration
- Experience of working with or for the MOD
