EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We have an opportunity for you to join our brand-new Office of Data as our Technology Data Analyst, where you’ll support the elements of the new data framework relating to the availability and use of data across Severn Trent.
We use data for all manner of critical reporting, processes and decision making, and while there is some due diligence on the quality of these outputs, there is currently no overarching framework to assure the quality of data, the end-to-end use of data or to effectively prioritise the work required to serve this wider data community.
We’ll be developing our new framework to ensure we have a comprehensive view of how data is currently used, and its future intent, to identify and resolve data related risks, issues, and facilitate the realisation of data related opportunities. It’s an exciting time to join, as you’ll be a key component to the future success of the team.
In this role, you’ll design, deliver, embed, and operate the new end-to-end data framework to ensure we make best use of the data being used at Severn Trent. You’ll support the building of the framework, including components and artifacts such as policies, standards, processes, principles, logs, and catalogues.
You’ll be gathering information through liaison with technical and non-technical members of the wider Data Community in Severn Trent, investigating the current quality of data (both in raw form, and in the areas data is manipulated to produce insight and information), assessing risks, issues and opportunities, building measures and reports, prioritising interventions and intervening and influencing outside of the team to ensure adherence to the new framework, which is also likely to extend to third parties who use or provide data.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
You’ll join the team with strong data skills, including a good understanding of data modelling, high data literacy, knowledge of how different data can be related, improved, used, and applied, and the ability to manipulate and investigate large volumes of data, with excellent bespoke reporting skills.
To be successful, you’ll need strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills with experience of stakeholder management. You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into non- technical terms.
Finally, you should be able to complete appropriate high-level analysis, evaluation and modelling to ensure we understand and identify risks, issues and opportunities relating to the provision or use of data, and be able to source, collect and extract data that is accurate and fit for purpose.
