Job description
The RSSL Pharmaceutical Microbiology Laboratory performs a wide range of analyses for a variety of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, healthcare, and consumer goods companies; it comprises multiple laboratories, including both sterile and non-sterile QC microbiology laboratories.
The role as Technician is to be responsible for performing a range of routine activities to support effective completion of projects and meet the customer’s contractual agreements. This role will primarily be concerned with supporting the non-sterile pharmaceutical microbiology teams (but with the possibility of also supporting the sterile pharmaceutical microbiology team); this will involve:
Primary Responsibilities
- Performing laboratory administration and housekeeping activities.
- Basic routine microbiological techniques (e.g. environmental monitoring and culture maintenance).
- Operation, routine checks, and calibration of basic laboratory.
- The use of generic and specific software packages required for the role: Laboratory’s LIMS system, Q-Pulse, MS Office applications, etc.
- Working in accordance with the quality and EHS (environment, health, and safety) standards within Pharmaceutical Microbiology Laboratory.
Education / Certifications:
- Educated to A / HNC level in a relevant scientific discipline
Job specific requirements:
- A keen interest in Microbiology.
- A desire to develop a career working within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Scientific understanding of basic lab equipment.
- Meticulous attention to detail and an ability to follow written instructions.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and quick to learn.
- Well organized and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
- Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment would be advantageous, but is not required as full training will be provided.
Work schedule:
Day shift (UK) (Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00)
