Job description
Envirolab, a member of the RSK Group have an exciting opportunity for a Sample Reception Technician to join our team in Hyde, Greater Manchester, UK.
Envirolab is an analytical laboratory with an outstanding track record for delivering analysis competitively and on time. The company provides environmental analytical services predominately of soil and groundwater samples.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out technical work in accordance with Envirolab procedures, when training record reflects competency
- Unpack, review and label client samples
- Assisting with the scheduling and subcontracting of samples
- Weighing of soil to dry for testing
- Sample disposal
- Compile client consumable requests
- Ensure all work completed is according to UKAS and Envirolab QMS requirements.
- Calibration of all laboratory equipment at the required frequency
- Work within the confines of Envirolab’s safety policy paying due regard to the requirements for PPE at all times.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the laboratory.
- To recommend changes in all procedures or working practices where there are either errors or where habitual problems occur.
- Carry out regular SHEMS inspections.
- Any other duties deemed reasonable for this position.
Desired experience:
No previous chemistry or laboratory experience is required for this role. We are interested in hearing from candidates that are familiar with working in a process driven environment, are comfortable working off order lists and don’t mind getting their hands dirty.

Salary and benefits:
