Position Title – Geospatial Data Technician
LiDAR Services International Inc. currently has a requirement for Geospatial Data Technicians to be based at our head office in Calgary, AB. The position mainly involves the processing of airborne LiDAR and Imagery data as well as data from aerial natural gas leak detection sensors. The ideal candidate would be proficient with ARCGIS, though experience with other software will also be considered.

As a Geospatial Data Technician, you will work closely with our Operations Manager and Data Processing
Coordinator to process a variety of remote sensing data and create mapping products that meet our customer’s geospatial and environmental data needs. You will closely liaise with our field data collection organization to optimize project production schedules while maintaining a high level of data quality. This is an exciting way to work with data from advanced sensor technology and affords the opportunity to develop into project leadership roles.
Responsibilities
- Airborne LiDAR & Imagery processing and derivative product generation using ARCGIS, TerraSolid and other software
- Processing of airborne natural gas leak detection data
- GNSS & Inertial data processing
- Orthophoto production
- Processing of other airborne data including oblique images, video & weather data
- Peer reviewing classification work and quality control
- Opportunity to participate in field data collection operations
- Self-check work to ensure accuracy and minimize reprocessing
- Identify and troubleshoot problems with data collection and processing
- Assist in developing methods and systems to improve operations
- Balance efficiency with quality
Qualifications
- GIS diploma or degree, or equivalent preferred
- Proficient with ARCGIS
- Familiarity with GNSS systems
- Familiarity with aerial mapping concepts including: Coordinate systems, Mapping Projections, image orthorectification, LiDAR point derivation & attributes, calibrations, etc.
- Effective communicator
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments
- Ability to maintain a high degree of motivation and work independently
- Detail orientated
- Experience with any of the following preferred: GrafNet, Inertial Explorer, Python, Global Mapper, LP360, RiProcess, POSPac, Microstation
