The Company’s award-winning light rail tram operation is an integral part of the future success of Blackpool and the Fylde coast. It provides an excellent transport service along the famous sea front which will connect to Blackpool North Railway Station via the new tramway extension.
We have a position at our busy Starr Gate depot for a dedicated Tram Technician. The role of a Tram Technician is to assess required repairs and\or replacements on trams and complete the required work to a high standard. To ensure the availability of vehicles in safe operating condition and provide written documentation of repairs to meet all company and legal requirements.

- A pay of £14.58 per hour during training, rising to £17.46 once this training has been completed.
- A 37.5-hour working week working Monday - Friday 7-3 during training, then 5 days over 7 this includes shift work.

Responsibilities:
- Diagnoses vehicle faults (e.g. Using computer diagnostic equipment etc) to determine required repairs and\or replacements.
- Inspects trams and equipment to ensure it is in safe operating condition
- Maintains tools and equipment to ensure availability in a safe operating condition.
- Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns. After training carry out emergency vehicle lifting, and re-railing as required.
- Services trams to ensure that they are maintained in a safe operating condition and scheduled preventative maintenance is performed.
- Safely transports required items (e.g. Tools, equipment supplies etc) to ensure the availability of materials required at job site.
- When required trains apprentices and ensures that they learn the correct and safe way to repair and maintain vehicles.
- Services and maintains ancillary equipment as required e.g. tram wash, sanding plant.
- Meets the requirement for and successfully completes the tram driver training programme.
- Complies with all relevant store's procedures.
- Maintains a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness throughout all work areas.
- If required and train will operate a forklift truck in line with company procedures.
- Operate trams for the purpose of shunting and recovering broken down vehicles.
