Technician, 3D Design - 30 hours per week, 40 weeks per year
This is a key post within the Art and Design department to support staff and students within 3D Design. Please note that having specialist knowledge of using and maintaining industrial woodworking machinery (such as a Bandsaw, Disc Sander, Lathe, Pillar Drill, Planner Thicknesser and Circular Saw) is essential; with desirable knowledge of AutoCAD, Illustrator and using an electric kiln, as well as experience in using glass and ceramics.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to maintain work, study spaces and equipment to support students and staff. The successful candidate should also demonstrate that they are able to work well as part of a team.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will prepare, set up and maintain equipment for classes and oversee its safe storage. They will be responsible for ordering and maintaining materials and provide advice on technical issues and occasionally give practical demonstrations to small groups of students. The appointed candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This post is based at our Southend Campus although you may be asked to travel to other campuses from time to time.

Part-time hours: 30 per week
Salary: £14,564.00 per year
