Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing and maintaining all LEMS publications in accordance with the LEMS Publication Framework. The Technical Writer will also review LEMS publications based on changes to doctrine, policy or procedures and produce additional publications not currently identified if a requirement is identified.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Working Groups (WG) or Land Publication Review Committee (LPRC) meetings via video teleconference (VTC) as requested by the TA.
  • Deliver the agenda, meeting minutes and summary of discussions as requested by the TA for WGs, LPRCs or review meetings.
  • Provide work proposals when requested by the TA.
  • Submit requests for new National Defence Index of Documentation (NDID) numbers to the TA when a requirement for new publication(s) is identified.
  • Review applicable DND, CAF, Joint and Army publications applicable to the function of the LEMS at the strategic, operational and tactical levels.
  • Review and be familiar with existing policy and procedures regarding LEMS.
  • Write and maintain all LEMS publications IAW LEMS Publications Framework.
  • Produce and maintain an observation database to track issues / observations about the LEMS publications, including drafts under review by Technical Writers and previously published policy documents.
  • Submit draft and final publications.
  • Assist the TA in maintaining the LEMS publication database website with the most up-to-date publication information.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a government or military environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Deliverables:

The Technical Writer will be required to prepare and submit various deliverables resulting from the services provided.
