- Working on large scale projects involving wholesale revision of current material and development of new materials. Project life may be twelve months or more in duration.
- Working with the Manager you will need to develop project plans for complex initiatives, working closely with other departments and stakeholders in planning project activities and timelines.
- Helping ensure that smaller portions of projects are assigned accordingly to Regulatory & Compliance Analysts, providing technical guidance and project management expertise.
- Analyzes legislative developments of considerable scope and complexity.
- Identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and determining the need for revisions in previously published materials and/or the development of new materials as required.
- Strong ability to analyze, research, design, write and edit a wide range of typical workplace documents of considerable complexity to support operating and legislative requirements.
- Develops and implements corrective procedures and forms of considerable complexity in order to resolve problematic issues and provides general guidance to credit union managers on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
- Consults with the Corporate Solicitor on a regular basis to resolve difficult legal and compliance issues.
- Studies, researches, and analyzes information regarding the specifications, operational aspects, and legislative requirements of Central 1’s products and services, consulting with other departments (such as Legal Counsel, Payment Services Operations, Product Development, Risk Management, and Registered Financial Services) as needed.
- Develops new and revises existing policy considerations, procedures, forms, and contracts of considerable complexity for the general operation of the various manuals managed by the department.
- Working closely with other Product Compliance & Design staff, assists in writing and reviewing policies and related material for publication, ensuring that records, files, and procedure/form revisions are maintained.
- Observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail as needed.
- Able to adapt easily to changing priorities and business needs, work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to more junior team members.
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or Law (or related analytical field).
- Relevant professional certifications (CAMS, CFE, CRM).
- Technical writing certification or education is required.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the methods, standards and best practices relating to technical writing and policy analysis.
- Experience reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing legislation, regulations and case law precedents that pertain to the broader financial services sector and credit unions.
- Demonstrated experience in working with internal and external clients to understand, gather and communicate regulatory issues, changes, and requirements.
- Strong skills in project management and leadership in a financial services environment.
- 10+ years of related policy experience in a regulatory, compliance or financial services role.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with a commitment to internal and external client service excellence at all levels of the organization.
- Can work both as a part of a team and independently, making sound business decisions with limited direct supervision and guidance.
- Highly developed analytical thinking and project management skills with demonstrated talent for research, policy/procedures development and continuous improvement of complex business processes.
