Beyond Bird, this impact is felt in the fundamental aspects of our everyday lives. From the critical infrastructure we depend on, to the energy and resources that keep us moving - we are powering our communities and shaping Canada’s skylines coast-to-coast. Entrenched in the foundation of a culture built more than a century ago is an enduring quest to reimagine what is possible. Our impact is greater than ever, and we are looking for those who seek to redefine their story.
We are a dynamic team of over 5,000 with a range of professions, backgrounds, and areas of expertise. This breadth of diversity in people and opportunities is one of greatest aspects of building your career with Bird. Every trajectory looks different. At Bird, you hold the pen, and you write your story. As you unlock your potential, you are surrounded by a team that supports you every step of the way.
Be a part of our team, where we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and the way we treat each other and our partners. You will build a career and long-lasting relationships based on respect, collaboration, and a solution-focused mindset. Bird is a place where you will unlock your potential and achieve your goals.
We are seeking a talented technical writer to join our team. The technical writer will report directly to the Project Director and will work closely with corporate and regional industrial teams on developing and submitting proposals, leading technical tactics and supporting business development initiatives.
Responsibilities:
  • Research and write informative and engaging content on various construction-related topics, such as project management, safety, materials, equipment, and regulations.
  • Produce high-quality written content for a range of formats, including blog posts, whitepapers, case studies, and social media posts.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to ensure that content is aligned with the overall marketing strategy and brand voice.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, news, and regulations to ensure that content is relevant and accurate.
  • Edit and proofread content for accuracy, grammar, and style.
  • Arrange and record proposal team meetings;
  • Work with proposal lead to draft tailored content;
  • Manage technical content;
  • Work with external vendors and stakeholders to obtain their input and information;
  • Review and editing of proposal material;
  • Track proposals – submissions, successes, opportunities for improvement;
  • Set-up and participate in debriefs and document feedback;
  • Act as the single point of contact for all RFP, RFPQ, Expressions of Interest (EOI), and other such communications;
What We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, English, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in writing for the construction industry, preferably in an industrial context.
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise, and engaging content.
  • Excellent research skills and ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread and edit own work.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and ability to optimize content for search engines.
